Professor Bernard Chazelle was awarded the 2013 SIAG/CST Best SICON Paper Prize at the SIAM Annual Meeting on July 9, 2013 in San Diego, California. The prize is awarded every two years to the authors of the two most outstanding papers published in the SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization (SICON) in the two calendar years before the year of the award. The prize is awarded for Chazelle's paper “The Total s-Energy of a Multiagent System,”SICON 49 No. 4 (2011), 1680-1706. The committee’s citation reads: “This paper develops novel, broadly-applicable modeling abstractions for analyzing collective behavior in networked multi-agent systems, including flocking, opinion dynamics, information aggregation, and synchronization.
