Travel
The department will help defray the costs of travel to Princeton up to $500 of airfare or automobile mileage to travel here. If you are visiting several campuses in a single trip, we will split the expenses with the other schools.
World Travel is the University's travel partner. They have set up a group reservation to process travel accommodations for our incoming admits.
You may contact them to book your travel — see the instructions below. You will only have to cover any costs for travel over and above $500. In order to book with them, please contact them at princetongroups@worldtravelinc.com, and reference "Computer Science Visit Day 2024" with the following information:
- Departure city
- Last name (as appears on ID)
- First and middle name(s) (as appears on ID)
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Cell phone number
- If you are traveling internationally, please also provide:
- Passport number
- Country of issue
- Full expiration date
- Which nights you will need hotel reservations (see "Lodging" below)
If necessary, you can buy your own plane tickets and get reimbursed after the visit (please note, this is not preferred). Again, there is a $500 limit (prorated if you are visiting multiple schools). If you wish to arrange your own air, train, or ground transportation, please note the following:
- Please save your original air, train or ground transportation receipts.
- The week of March 25th, please reach out to gradinfo@cs.princeton.edu to request your reimbursement. You will recieve more information then on how to submit your expenses/receipts/etc. Please hold questions until that time.
- Per University policy, we are only able to reimburse you for economy-class travel. If you book business or first class, please lookup and save a matching itinerary for what the fare would have cost in economy on the same flights/trains. You will then be reimbursed for what the economoy class fare would have been, or $500 (whichever is lesser).
Helpful Information (if you are booking your own travel, and not using World Travel):
- By Air: Although Princeton is about equal distance between Newark Liberty International (NJ) Airport and Philadelphia International (PA) Airport, we recommend you use Newark (EWR), as there are more convenient ground transportation options from Newark to Princeton.
- The most convenient method to get from Newark Liberty International Airport to Princeton is via a NJ Transit train. You can take the airport Air Train monorail to the airport's train station stop. There you should purchase a ticket to either "Princeton Junction" or "Princeton". You should take the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor service (southbound, towards "Trenton") to the "Princeton Junction" station. At Princeton Junction, please either change to the Dinky Train onto campus to the Princeton station, or take a taxi to Nassau Inn (10 minutes away). The Nassau Inn is walking distance from the Princeton station (but not walking distance from Princeton Junction). (Cabs, Uber, Lyft, and/or shuttle buses are other options.) Remember to obtain a receipt for the train also. Receipts are available from the NJ Transit vending machines as well as from the cashier from whom you purchase your train ticket(s).
